We accept new students in all grades each year if space is available.

Our typical entry points are Eaglets, Junior Kindergarten, and Kindergarten. Summit is currently accepting applications for all grade levels for the 2024-25 school year. Please note the timeline below for important dates.

Please note the following age requirements for admission to Summit's Early Childhood program.

Eaglets Class - Student must turn 3 by June 1
Junior Kindergarten - Student must turn 4 by June 1
Kindergarten - Student must turn 5 by June 1

Admission to the Triad Academy division (grades 1-8) requires an individually administered cognitive test, specifically the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children - Version V (WISC-V) and a test of achievement, such as the Woodcock-Johnson Test of Achievement - Version (WJ-IV).

February 14-28	Re-enrollment period for current families
March 6	First-round new student acceptances sent via email
March 6	Application deadline for second-round consideration
March 20	Enrollment deposits due for new students accepting enrollment
April 3	Second-round new student acceptances sent via email
April 17	Enrollment deposits due for new students (2nd-round) accepting enrollment

What makes independent schools different from public schools?

At an independent school, the staff, the parents, and the students share a belief system about education, and the resulting synergy among parents and educators creates a learning experience superior to schools not mission-driven.

Independent schools are just that - independent. Independent in governance meaning that the school is organized as not-for-profit and is governed by a self-perpetuating board of directors. Independent in finance meaning that the school charges tuition and raises money to operate, as opposed to being supported primarily by public monies or religious subsidies.

No less important is the fact that independent schools operate under the highest method of accountability: since no family is compelled to select an independent school, if the school fails in its mission, any family can leave that school and choose another option for their child. Independent schools can only survive if they are extraordinarily successful at achieving their mission.
