Applications are being accepted for the 2022-23 school year and will be reviewed as space allows. The following grade levels are full and currently have established wait pools for the 2022-23 school year: Eaglets, Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 3rd grade and 5th grade. In the Triad division, 3rd grade has space available for the 2022-23 school year. All other grade levels in Triad are full and have wait pools established.

Campus Tours
Come visit!
The best way to learn more about Summit is to visit and tour our campus. Personal tours are available by appointment during school hours.
Parents are required to visit and tour the school and meet with a member of the Admissions staff as a first step in the process. During the Parent Visit, you will have an individual meeting with a member of our staff. This is your chance to tell us about your child and to ask any specific questions about our program or particular areas of interest. It is recommended that for this first meeting, parents come without their children.

Apply to Early Childhood (Eaglets, JrK & K)
Applicants for Eaglets should turn three by June 1 of the year of entry.
Applicants for Junior Kindergarten should turn four by June 1 of the year they would enter.
Applicants for Kindergarten should turn five by June 1 of the year they would enter.
Ideally applications should be on file by January of the calendar year of entry. Applicants considering financial aid are encouraged to apply by December.

- Student Visit: After the application and related forms are received, we will review the file and invite selected applicants for a Student Visit. Applicants for Junior Kindergarten visit with their parents in small groups. All other applicants visit in the classroom for a full day at their current grade level.
- Assessments and Testing: Applicants to grades K-3 will be given an age appropriate screening for reading and written language during their visit.
- Decision: Following the Student Visit, we will notify the family of our decision in early March.

Apply Triad Academy at Summit School (Grades 1-8)
Testing
Students applying for admission to Triad Academy at Summit School have a documented need for specialized instruction in reading and written language. Applicants must have a comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation, current within three years, which describes the student’s strengths and weaknesses, and provides evidence that academic difficulties are not the result of behavioral or emotional problems.
Students will be considered for admission based on:
Average or above average range cognitive abilities, as measured by an individually administered intelligence test, preferably the WISC-IV. Significant evidence of underachievement in one or more academic areas such as reading, written language, or math; or basic learning processes, such as visual/motor perception, or language or auditory processing difficulties.
Triad Academy is not able to appropriately serve students with a primary diagnosis of autism, emotional disabilities, or conduct disorders. While some of our students may also have ADD or ADHD as a secondary diagnosis to dyslexia, no one is admitted with only a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD.

We ask all parents to make an appointment to visit the school as a required part of the admissions process.

Applicant File
We welcome applications at any time of the year. Ideally applications should be on file by January of the calendar year of entry. Applicants considering financial aid are encouraged to apply by December.
Student Visit
If we determine that your child’s learning needs and our program are an appropriate match, he or she will be invited to spend a day with us. After the visit day, parents will be called about our decision to admit your child into the Triad Academy Division. If there is not available space in the prospective student’s grade, the child will be placed in a waiting pool pending an opening at his or her grade level, or the child will receive priority consideration for next year.
Policies
1. We use no single criterion to evaluate applicants. We seek a student group diverse in talents, background and outlook. The school encourages students of any race, religion, color and national or ethnic origin.
2. We give first consideration to brothers and sisters of students currently enrolled at Summit and to children of Summit staff. We expect parents of each sibling applicant to apply and enroll at the earliest date of entry offered; otherwise we will include the applicant in the next categories of children to be considered.
3. We seek to be accepting of all applicants. Summit School does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in the administration of its education policies, financial aid programs, athletics, or other school-administered programs.
4. We give consideration to children of alumni, as well as to children of brothers and sisters of our alumni.
5. We try to keep an even balance of boys and girls in each class.
6. The date of application is not a primary criterion for consideration. However, early application is encouraged as the full admission process may take several weeks to complete.
7. We give first consideration for tutoring services to currently enrolled Summit students. Second consideration for tutoring is given to students who have been accepted to a division of Summit School but are in a waiting pool for enrollment.
