Learning That Lasts Forever Capital Campaign

After years of careful planning, Summit's Board launched the most sweeping and far-reaching building program in the School's history. The objective of the Learning That Lasts Forevercampaign is to raise $13.5 million to expand the campus in important areas including an Arts & Technology building, an Athletic Center, 2nd and 3rd Grade Classrooms and a Dining Hall. Summit will use contributions to construct, maintain, improve or repair its facilities or for other purposes consistent with our obligations to be good stewards for the future.

Encouraged by the early progress of the campaign, The Board of Trustees authorized $16.7 million in tax free state bonds. This bold step will allow the School to construct the new facilities and renovate old spaces in a short three year period. "It is very exciting to see students and teachers in the new 2nd and 3rd Grade classrooms and Athletic Center which were opened in 2008.  These facilities are built with the same sense of purpose that defines our curriculum. From design to detail, they deepen our students' learning by inspiring, focusing, illuminating, empowering and connecting," says Michael Ebeling, Head of School. "The Arts & Technology Building includes a black box theatre, digital media studio, computer music room, animation studio, band room, and art studios. The third through ninth grade dining hall features an innovative approach to "food as curriculum" and provides a space that will serve as the hearth of the school."

"It is very exciting to watch as the School's curriculum evolves.  Our talented teachers are using these state-of-the-art spaces to maximize students' learning opportunities," says Marie Arcuri '77, Board Chair and Co-chair of the Learning That Lasts Forever Campaign. "Summit still needs to raise $3.3 million to complete this important campaign. If you have not already given, please consider becoming a part of this important project."
