Charitable gifts provide resources that help Summit fulfill its mission and keep our programs accessible to a wide range of families. Generous donations from parents, alumni, grandparents, past parents, faculty and staff, corporations and foundations support the Annual Fund (unrestricted gifts) and build the endowment and facilities. As we are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, all gifts are tax-exempt. There are many ways to give needed support for Summit.
Gifts of Cash Gifts of cash are the most common form of support. Checks should be made payable to Summit School Inc. and sent to: Summit School 2100 Reynolda Road Winston-Salem, NC 27106 Attn: Camille Hobbie Townsend, CFRE
Gifts of Securities Gifts of appreciated securities provide significant tax savings for the donor by avoiding capital gains tax. Such gifts are also tax deductible at the fair market value on the date of the gift. To avoid paying tax on the profit, you must give the security itself, rather than selling it first, then giving the proceeds. Electronic transfer is the most common way of transferring a gift of securities to Summit School.
You can also send to Summit by certified mail a signed stock certificate(s) or a stock power to cover the certificate(s) and a letter of authorization allowing the shares to be deposited in the Summit School account. If your gift comprises only part of a certificate, indicate in the letter of authorization how remaining shares should be handled.
If you need additional information, please contact Camille Townsend, camille@summitmail.org or 336-721-0540 x. 123.
