Dining at Summit
Each day Summit students experience a nutritious and appealing lunch menu. The dining environment and experience are on a par with the exceptional curriculum in which we engage our students.
Dining Room for Young Children- Kindergarten- 2nd Grade
The Anne Coggan Johnston Dining Room for Young Children was conceived as a place where children could carry over their understanding of nutrition, healthy living, and social skills and responsibility daily. Chef Susan Pfaff and her staff serve homemade healthy lunches that are cooked with the palates of young children in mind. Chef Pfaff works closely with families and students who have special dietary restrictions and food allergies. The children sometimes help make the menu and cook the food. In addition, they are responsible for cleaning up after themselves and recycling.
The Dining Hall- 3rd-9th Grade
Our new Dining Hall serves as the hearth of the school, a warm and welcoming place where students and staff gather for nourishment and lively conversation. In keeping with Summit's mission and ethos, the facility follows the model of our Anne Coggan Johnston Dining Room for Young Children.
The space includes:
• The warmth and intimacy of natural light
• Family-style seating at circular tables
• An acoustic design that contributes to a calm atmosphere
• An arrangement that provides easy flow of students and staff through the serving area
• A child-friendly aesthetic that reflects the joy we all feel when we gather with friends and enjoy good food
Our Dining facilities provide exactly the kind of atmosphere we want for our children and young adolescents as they engage in the most fundamental and wonderful of activities: Eating.
