Inspiring Learning
School life at Summit is about inspiring learning.
Every aspect of our 360 degree curriculum—from our robotics studio to our teaching gardens, from our inquiry-based Lower School science program to our approach to food as curriculum—is designed to deepen our students’ understanding by focusing, illuminating, empowering, connecting and inspiring their learning.
We live the adage that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. While we provide programs that engage children from ages four through fifteen, we are ONE SCHOOL that, in the words of our mission statement, “provides a challenging curriculum within a caring environment to help students develop their full potential.” Our collective commitment to our children, their families, and colleagues is larger than any challenge we could possibly face. Each day we have both the opportunity and the responsibility to ask: How do the myriad experiences we orchestrate for our students lead to inspiring learning?
Because everyone at Summit is an educator and everything we do is purposeful, inspiring learning takes place not only in the science lab, the math classroom and computer music studio but also through character education, service learning, clubs and activities, and dining room experiences. It takes place on the school bus and in the hallways, on the athletic fields and in the theatre, with teachers and coaches, but also with maintenance staff and office assistants. And beyond the boundaries of the traditional school day, inspiring learning happens in the After School & Early Morning programs, at the Summit Afternoon Academy, and in the Summit at Night and Summit Summer programs.
Our 360 degree curriculum surrounds our students, nurturing and challenging them within and beyond the four walls of the classroom.
